A New Chapter in Nushratt Bharuccha's Career
Nushratt Bharuccha shares that her career experienced a pivotal shift following her role in the 2021 horror film Chhorii. This film not only changed how audiences view her but also paved the way for more opportunities in female-centric stories. "Since Chhorii, I've worked on Janhit Mein Jaari and Akelli, and I have a couple more projects lined up. It's surprising how these opportunities came my way without me actively seeking them. I'm thrilled to explore diverse roles," she expressed.
The actress noted that Chhorii has significantly influenced both audience and industry perceptions of her, leading to a surge in scripts tailored for her. Chhorii is a remake of Vishal Furia's 2017 Marathi film Lapachhapi, which tells the story of a pregnant woman named Sakshi, whose unborn child faces threats from malevolent spirits.
The sequel, set to premiere on April 11 on Prime Video, will continue Sakshi's journey from the first film, reintroducing familiar characters while adding new elements of horror.
Bharuccha, known for her roles in popular films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Dream Girl, described Chhorii as the most challenging project of her career. "This film offered me a unique opportunity to showcase my acting skills in ways that previous roles did not. It provided a depth and complexity that I had not encountered before," she stated.
She added, "Experiencing the life of a woman in her eighth month of pregnancy, facing trauma from both people and supernatural forces, was an extraordinary challenge. It allowed me to explore emotional boundaries I had never considered before."
